Marcos César Santos Oriá

Dr. Marcos Oriá holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (1982) and a Master's Degree in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1985). PhD in Physics at Université Paris-Nord (1990). Visiting associate professor (Maitre de conference invite) at Université Paris-XIII (1990-91), Visiting researcher (CNPq fellow) at USP-São Carlos (1991-93), Professor at UFPB (1994-2016) and Professor ( Visiting Professor) at Duke University (2006-07). He is a Full Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco since 2017. He conducts research in atomic physics, particularly in problems of atom-surface interaction and in nonlinear dynamics, in semiconductor lasers and electronic circuits.

Dr. Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato

He simultaneously completed a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP) and Materials Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Has a Master's degree in Physics at USP and a Doctorate in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently full professor at USP and director of the Institute of Physics of São Carlos. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Vatican, and the National Academy of Sciences (USA). He was awarded several awards, including the title of CNPq Researcher Emeritus, the Mercosur Science and Technology Award, the title of Commander of the National Order of Scientific Merit and recently the Almirante Álvaro Alberto award, considered the main science and technology award in Brazil. He works in the areas of Atomic Physics and Applications of Optics in Health Sciences. Allied to the vast program of scientific research, it is also dedicated to dissemination and scientific education, seeking through various initiatives to promote science in the country.

Dr. Alessandra Toncelli

Alessandra Toncelli is Associate Professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Pisa since 2017. Her research activity is mainly devoted to optical spectroscopy of materials in various wavelength regions from the visible to the mid-infrared and THz region. Her research interest is focused on the spectroscopy of insulating crystals doped with rare earth ions for laser and other photonic applications, the growth of fluoride crystals with the Czochralski technique. More recently, spectroscopic characterization of crystals and other materials (including amorphous materials and semiconductors) in the mid-infrared and THz spectral regions. In all these research areas, she has co-authored more than 180 papers in peer-reviewed international journals.

Dr. Daniel Felinto Pires Barbosa

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from UFPE (1996), and his Master's degree (1998) and a Doctorate (2002) in Physics also at UFPE. He also completed two postdoctoral internships at USP (2003) and CALTECH (2004-2006). He is currently an associate professor at UFPE. He works in physics, with emphasis on Optics, Atomic Physics and Quantum Information.

Dr. Fatima Maria Mitsue Yasuoka

Has a degree in Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos/USP (1986), a Master's degree in Applied Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos/USP (1989), a Doctorate in Applied Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos/USP (1997) and a post-doctorate in Physics Applied to Ophthalmology from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos/USP (2000). Worked as a researcher and project manager in the R&D department at Opto Eletrônica S/A until 02/2013 (13 years). She currently works as a professor at the Paulistas Universities in Araraquara and Ribeirão Preto since 2015. She works as a collaborating researcher at BR Labs and the Institute of Physics of São Carlos. She has experience in Physics, focusing on Optics and Photonics, currently specializing in optical systems projects in various interdisciplinary areas (medical, dental, aerospace and defense), working mainly in the area of optical instrumentation for Ophthalmology, Industrial Laser and research project management.

Dr. Maurício Morais de Lima Júnior


Has a degree in Physics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, 1995), a master's degree in Physics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP,1998) and a PhD in Physics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, 2002). From 2002 to 2006, he worked as a researcher at the Paul Drude Institute in Berlin. In 2006, he joined the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Valencia where he is currently a professor. He has experience in physics, with emphasis on mechanical and acoustic properties of condensed matter, spectroscopic techniques in nanostructured solids, optical and vibrational properties of nanostructures, surface acoustic waves, acoustic-optical interaction in photonic and phononic cavities, and phononic.

Dr. Monica Carvalho


She has a degree in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Master in Mechanical-Thermal Engineering at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), university degree of Advanced Studies in Climatization and Energy Efficiency of Buildings at the Universidad de Zaragoza, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad de Zaragoza. Since 2013, she has been a professor at the Center for Alternative and Renewable Energies (CEAR) at the Federal University of Paraíba. She is also a collaborating professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at Laurentian University in Canada. Her research interests include thermal engineering and energy integration, optimization of poly-generation systems, thermo-economics, efficient energy use, and life-cycle assessment.

Dr. Thiago Martins Amaral


He has a degree in Physics from Federal University of Goiás (UFG, 2008), a master of science in Physics from Federal University of Goiás (2011) and doctorate in Applied Physics from University of São Paulo (USP, 2015). He also worked as a post-doctorate researcher at INM-Leibniz Institute for New Materials (2015-2018). Since 2019, he is an Analyst Engineer at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Luxembourg).
