The social demand for technological solutions for living with the drought, the creation of new materials applied to the production of solar energy, the development of new techniques for the treatment and diagnosis of diseases using photonics, among many other themes, show the importance of the knowledge on the multidisciplinary field of Physics Engineering in increasing the quality of human being’s current life. In this perspective, sicne 2019, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco - UFRPE offers the graduate course in Physics Engineering - PPENGFIS, located in the city of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in the state of Pernambuco, in the middle of an industrial pole.

PPENGFIS will hold its 1st International Workshop to intensify cooperation with different national and international research centers, and to foster debate on the role of physics engineering in the growth of different strategic sectors of the economy. The 1st International Workshop of the Graduate Program in Physics Engineering at UFRPE will take place on June 30 and July 1, 2020, presenting lectures by reputed researchers and oral communications from students, transmitting via Zoom platform. It is noteworthy that oral communications are restricted to works developed in the area of materials, optoelectronics and related areas, and the deadline for submission of abstracts is on 19/06/2020.
